I like Matthew Parris' writing.
The other Saturday, 19th September he analysed Jezza's runaway victory of the Labour leadership under the title "Corbyn 's car crash is a gift to the centre left" he came out with a couple of masterly paragraphs that had me in fits. Sadly I cannot link to the Times website as it is behind a paywall.
But I happily give attribution to The Times and Matthew Parris and request permission to quote the couple of magnificent paragraphzs, below:
"Corbyn is deeply connected with Labour: he reaches back into the party's history and its soul. He may be a caricature but caricatures convey deep truths. This bearded, reality-hating ideologue is a ghastly reminder of much that has always been dear to the people's party. Corbynism is not a revolution, it's a counter-revolution. Labour is reverting to type in a manner so spectacular that the party may now choke itself to death in one , last magnificent spasm of authenticity"
The whole article is a relatively reasoned view on the current and near future of the Labour party and Matthew lets rip with the gusto of a joyous Tory on a political high due to the self destruction of its main opponent.
Hats off to you Matthew, "spasm of authenticity", I keep having to wipe away the tears. Simply brilliant.
